The Americans are coming
Vogelsberg. On January 28th, 2014, fifty years will have passed since an American military airplane was brought down near Vogelsberg by a Soviet aircraft. Three soldiers died that day. The Friends of the Flyer Monument club was able to contact relatives of the soldiers in the USA, who traveled to Germany to attend a ceremony of commemoration on February 2nd.
On top of the Bonafice Hill near Vogelsberg (view over the fields towards Sprötau and Dielsdorf) stands today the monument and a wooden cross. On ceremonial occasions flags are set up. Picture: Ina Renke © zgt
